Enhancement of Knowledge:
An article that I have read by Dr. Raziye Erdem called "Students with Special Needs and Assistive Technologies: A Literature Review is all about how students with special needs sometimes have a harder time understanding certain material as well as social skills so some assistive technologies that have come out can help make this easier for these students. It relates into component 4e because technology is always updating and so we need to be in the loop so we can bring it into our classroom to assist the students especially the ones who need a little extra help.
Here is an infographic I have made about this article:
- Constantly be growing with the content I'm teaching so I can understand it to the fullest and be able to teach it in ways that the students can grasp it the best.
- Be aware of updated technology and use it in instruction. As in bitmojis and learning websites like nearpod or kahoot that could really keep the students engaged and have fun while also learning the lesson.
- Ask for help and advice when I know that I'm struggling to figure out how to grasp the students attention and help them stay engaged. A colleague might have had this issue too and asking for advice doesn't mean I have to take it but I can use it to experiment and see what works best.
- Be acceptive if I am given feedback from a colleague, they are just trying to do what's best for me and the students. They are helping you learn and grow too.
- Teaching requires continued growth and development so just take a deep breath because the learning never ends!
- I can stay informed and increase my skills by subscribing to Education Association Groups which would even allow me as a teacher to become even more engaged.
- By learning different styles from extra classes or seminars I can understand how to engage my students in ways that are best for that class.
- Frequently attend workshops when they are available for example the website ICS has seminars for educators that can be attended.
