MLL Lesson Plan
In my Culturally Relevant Pedagogy class, we took a lesson plan and adapted it for an MLL student. While forming this lesson plan, I demonstrated Domain 3 of the Danielson Framework which is about instruction. Within the lesson, there are goals of what the students should learn which would be communicated to the students. There are also clear instructions given as well as knowledge of what is expected of these students. During the lesson, as the teacher, I would be modeling language and vocabulary that will help these students to grasp more vocabulary in the English language. These are all examples from Danielson 3a, Communicating with Students. Danielson 3b Questioning and Discussion Techniques would be demonstrated throughout the lesson while the book is being read. In the lesson, there is prompting as well as discussion that would help the MLL students to participate in the discussion. In my MLL lesson, I have the option of giving the students their own copy of the book to follow along. This would help keep them engaged, which demonstrates Danielson 3c, Engaging Students in Learning. Danielson 3e Demonstrating Flexibility and Responsiveness was demonstrated throughout my lesson. I have different options for the different levels of the MLL student so that I can respond easily to how the student is doing during the lesson. By using some of these alternative approaches I can help my students to be more successful. Overall, by forming this MLL lesson, I have been able to see how I could communicate with my students to make sure they know what is expected of them as well as demonstrate how I can be flexible in how the instruction is given to them which would give them an opportunity to be successful. |
